Many recreation opportunities are available at the Modoc National Wildlife Refuge. During winter, Canada geese and waterfowl are sought by avid hunters willing to bear the cold weather. As the snow thaws, hiking, canoeing, and bike riding become popular activities. The refuge is also visited throughout the year by bird watchers.
