This project was implemented to increase the forage value of brush stands for deer and elk. This area is key winter range for the Interstate Deer herd, and is also used by resident elk. This area had been dominated by decadent brush which was a result of a wildfire that burned in the area 60 years ago. The project was accomplished by the use of prescribed fire, which burns the existing brush and encourages the sprouting of high quality (higher nutritional value) forage.
